Vandaag voor de verandering eens een thuiswedstrijd, gewoon in Meppel. Een themaochtend over social media (en een beetje meer) en hoe Edu’Actief daar als innovatieve educatie uitgever mee om zou kunnen gaan. Een erg leuke ochtend die hopelijk leidt tot mooiere, slimmere en betere leermiddelen.

Presenting the architect at BNA

Royal Institute of Dutch Architects (BNA) asked me to give a talk on how to present yourself as an architect, on marketing, communication and basically anything else that involves presenting yourself to others. The audience was a mix of younger and older architects, owners of small agencies in the Amsterdam region. I told about the importance to make your presentations direct representations of who you are, as personal as possible. And I gave a bunch of tips, tricks and tools to present yourself anyway you need to present yourself or your work. Was great fun, got some great feedback, found out that architects don’t twitter and met some nice people.

Inspiration and knowledge sharing meeting at NPK Design

Wolfram Peters, partner of NPK Design and fellow board member at BNO, invited me for a inspiration and knowledge sharing meeting with the team of NPK at their splendid historical building in the old centre of Leiden. I shared a bunch of projects I’ve worked on, both work but mostly play, together with a small peek into the current state of technology, its possibilities and on how it affects the role of the designer. Looking forward to the next session in two weeks!

Talking augmented reality at KLM/Schiphol

I gave a presentation on the current state of augmented reality —its opportunities, its limitations, some possible directions on how it can be used at an airport or in planes; but most importantly the single-sided current view on what augmented reality really is can can be— to spark new ideas for KLM and Schiphol.

what the fuck at Knowmads

I had a lot of fun this morning at Knowmads. Pieter invited me to share with Tribe One what I do and how I do things. So I made a massively overdosing stack of slides with new and old work made for fun and shared that in a two and a half hour long Pecha Kucha. Haha. What a great group of people, witch great questions, feedback and energy. It’s an amazing initiative. I admire the twelve students for their bravery, having made a choice to spend an entire year to further develop themselves and they couldn’t wish for a more energetic and devoted team to guide them. Great to be a part of it.

After my creative overdose, I also got a great presentation with ideas for Picnic 2010 and an invite by the students to become a part of Knowmads. But of course. And when possible making exchanges or collaborations with I/M/D, what might lead to fresh new insights for all people involved. For Picnic I got some interesting ideas that might just work for the festival. Nice! Thanks guys!

NetOO NT Proeverij

Met als titel Nieuwe technologie: wat moeten we er mee/moeten we er wat mee heb ik een inleiding gedaan voor de NT-Proeverij van NetOO. De NT-Proeverij stelt vrienden, leden en relaties van leden van NetOO in staat om op informele manier kennis te maken met allerlei vormen van nieuwe technologie en hoe dit toegepast kan worden op het gebied van leren. Na een mijn introductie kreeg iedereen de gelegenheid, onder het genot van eten en drinken, op zoek te gaan naar toepassingen van nieuwe technologieën. In een grote ruimte stonden allerlei voorbeelden om van te ‘proeven’.

Was een hele leuke namiddag in een mooie locatie met een boel leuke mensen en lekkere dingen. Ook een aantal dingen in het echt gezien zoals de Tiktegel, de spelcomputer Swinx waar je oude spellen nieuw mee kan spelen maar ook een boel nieuwe toepassingen voor zou kunnen bedenken en ook Siftables, al in 2008 gezien via de MIT Labcast en daarna ook TED, maar te gek dat die dus nu ook echt op de markt komen.

NS Poort

Op de optimale plek in Amsterdam met mooi zicht over de stad en natuurlijk Amsterdam Centraal Station, heb ik een praatje gehouden voor de crew van NS Poort. Vraag aan mij was om de passie voor al het moois rond de treinreis te stimuleren met mijn verhaal over wat er allemaal moet kunnen in en om de trein en wat mijn perceptie is en die van de klant bij zijn treinreis. Kai van Hasselt was ook gevraagd te spreken, hij gaf een mooi beeld van ontwikkelingen wereldwijd die als inspiratie kunnen dienen voor nieuw denken voor ontwikkelingen voor o.a. Amsterdam CS. Gevolgd door een rondgang door Amsterdam CS. Leuk om eens achter de schermen te kijken van het stations waar ik het meest kom. Mooie en grote uitdagingen voor een mooi team leuke mensen.

Adobe The Switch Masterclass

Net op de Adobe Usergroup XL meeting op The Switch een praatje gehouden over mijn creatieve proces aan de hand van een aantal cases. Met Jan Hibma (imaging), Addikt (motion graphics), Lowman (graphic design) en ik dus (cross media). Was heel leuk in een afgevulde Meervaart.

Leuk verslag door Floor Drees. Het klopt allemaal niet helemaal maar wel leuk om terug te lezen, dank Floor!

Talking prototyping at LEMZ
