Another year, not just another edition of PICNIC. Since the very first edition of PICNIC, it has set the standard in its field — there was simply no event like it. Last year, we celebrated five beautiful years of PICNIC. Five years of connecting

At PICNIC ‘10 we had the privilege to premiere Sustainism publicly. Sustainism Is the New Modernism, A Cultural Manifesto for the Sustainist Era by Michiel Schwarz and Joost Elffers a bold document that combines a powerful idea with really strong iconic graphic design. I

The fifth edition of PICNIC took place from September 22 to 24, 2010 at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, and is was fabulous!
The festival was made possible by the enthusiasm, hard work and collaboration of a group of amazing people, including our sponsors, partners, speakers and the PICNIC ‘10 advisors and team but – most importantly

Project Dreamschool at PICNIC’10 was incredibly fruitful. Instead of a written summary of the event, which is quite a challenge, we have a full visual summary. Everything that has been talked about, thought of, etc. has been captured in these fabulous visuals by visual philosopher and story sketcher Dennis Luijer and

In one day at PICNIC ’10, we have developed creative and renewed solutions to realize a dream school. Visual thinkers joined the conversations and continuously sketched the solutions. With 150 people, coming from a global network of pioneering thinkers, visionaries and innovators, we made it happen. Thank you for joining us and PICNIC!

Just like last year, Roy Gerritsen of boompje.com is responsible for the visual video eye candy that is used on all screens, from the Lecture Room to PICNICTV. Roy is also responsible for the 3d work for the campaign imagery. Also here, the balloon plays an important role. When in contact with

Lenovo was one of the sponsors at PICNIC ‘10. We created an touch application for their new M90z enterprise computer, that allowed visitors to directly draw on the screen. Their canvas was a card attached to a cord of a balloon. When done drawing or writing what they wanted to bring

For the 2010 edition we created five images that represent the five PICNIC ‘10 themes: Redesign the world (blue), Redesign life (pink), Redesign design (yellow), Redesign media (purple) and Redesign the city (green). We chose for a heart-shaped balloon held by people as the recognizable element for this edition. The balloons visualize the different themes

Today we did the shooting for the PICNIC 2010 campaign imagery with Maurice Mikkers. We shot a load of images of a wide variety of shirts and clothing on several models while they held a balloon for their head. Initially, we used helium for it. But after a while we changed a pair

On Tuesday, 25 May international IT professionals and Amsterdam’s top creative talent got together for An Amsterdam PICNIC @ WCIT 2010. We would like to thank all of our partners and attendees for making this an enjoyable and successful evening! It was also a nice opportunity to test the new constellation of the PICNIC team

Had an idea to make a gigantic chandelier from a massive amount of umbrella’s for An Amsterdam PICNIC @ WCIT 2010 and also for the September event. Senz was so kind to make this come happen and delivered 200 white Senz mini’s. The result was just beautiful! Thanks Jochem for linking!

Today we spend test-shooting for the PICNIC10 communication. With Maurice Mikkers as the photographer and the PICNIC team as guinea pigs. And as usual it turned out great. More follows soon!

We had a great session with the LEMZ team to create the perfect PICNIC 2010. They prepared really really well, brought lots and lots of inspiration and fresh insights to the table, pure delight. Thanks guys!

PICNIC 2010 is shaping creatively. One thing is certain: it will be a different PICNIC for several reasons. New people working on it, a new approach and of course the 5th anniversary. We set ourselves the goal that it should be the best experience ever — of course. Making it the ultimate place to be inspired,

Had a great and highly energetic kick-off meeting today of a part of the programming of PICNIC 2010 with Kitty (Program Director, PICNIC), Gentry Underwood (Ideo), Bas van Abel (Waag Society) and Roel Klaassen (Premsela). To be continued.

A small peek at the work in progress for PICNIC10, developing the theme. Don’t forget to share your ideas!

Today was another day at the PICNIC office. I’ve set my weekly fixed focussed PICNIC day on Thursday, starting next week since past weeks Thursdays were rather impossible due to other projects. A lot is happening, there will be a lot of new things.

Hurray! It’s live! To share what you want to share for Picnic Festival 2010, you can use this page. Remember: it’s always more fun when you bring your own stuff to a picnic!

I’m happy and excited to announce that I will enforce the PICNIC team as the creative director for PICNIC 2010 and have challenge of developing the creative concept for and a great experience at this fantastic festival, which celebrates its five year
