Today we had a great session at Knowmads to lead to a subject they will be working on as an assignment. The new Dream School Foundation board was there (Roel, Ellen and myself), together with special guests Jorn Bartlema, Thieu Besselink and Itay Talgam. It was a true roller coaster ride with great results, insights and new connections between people. It sure will lead to something beautiful. Results follow soon.

178 logo workout with Knowmads

I’ve asked my friends at 178 to help out Knowmads with their logo stuff. They had some terrible soul-less designs hanging on the wall, that so did not fit Knowmads at all. So they did a Logo Workout like only 178 can do, with some great results that perfectly fit Knowmads!

Ambassador at Knowmads

I’ve become Ambassador at Knowmads. Which is great! Nice to be part of a group of highly contagious and nice people. I received this definition from tribe leader Pieter:

Ambassador is is the highest ranking diplomat that represents a nation. Ambassadors are assigned to specific responsibilities, and they work to advise and assist their governments in a given area. The word is also often used more liberally for persons who are known, without national appointment, to represent certain professions, activities and fields of endeavor.

Looking forward to see how far we can take it!

what the fuck at Knowmads

I had a lot of fun this morning at Knowmads. Pieter invited me to share with Tribe One what I do and how I do things. So I made a massively overdosing stack of slides with new and old work made for fun and shared that in a two and a half hour long Pecha Kucha. Haha. What a great group of people, witch great questions, feedback and energy. It’s an amazing initiative. I admire the twelve students for their bravery, having made a choice to spend an entire year to further develop themselves and they couldn’t wish for a more energetic and devoted team to guide them. Great to be a part of it.

After my creative overdose, I also got a great presentation with ideas for Picnic 2010 and an invite by the students to become a part of Knowmads. But of course. And when possible making exchanges or collaborations with I/M/D, what might lead to fresh new insights for all people involved. For Picnic I got some interesting ideas that might just work for the festival. Nice! Thanks guys!

I keep on talking. Coming up: Next thursday I will do a powertalk at Knowmads and in April I will one of the keynote speakers at a invitation only event by frog design and Microsoft, with a special guest from Microsoft USA. All I can say is that you really want to be on that guest list!

Knowmads application workshop results

The past 24 hours the Knowmads applicants have worked their ass off on the assignment we gave them as a part of their application. The two tribes did great work, based on the information they received. There’s a lot of potential. Roel van den Berg, Ellen Zwienink, Thomas Jacobs and I performed the role of jury on behalf of Randstad. Thanks guys and galls for your work and I hope you make it into the Tribe and meet you again later.

Knowmads application workshop assignment

Knowmads is ready for take-off. Today we briefed the potential students with an assignment for Randstad, with only 22.5 hrs to solve it. Can’t wait to see the results to see which of the two tribes comes up with the best answer.

If you want to make the world a bit better, start with yourself. If you don’t know how to do that, start with Pieter. I was introduced to Pieter by Itay Talgam at Picnic in September. According to Itay, we had a lot in common. And we do. And what couldn’t be better is that I learned Pieter was involved in the Dutch department of Koaspilots, one of the studies that —if I would have known earlier— I would have wanted to follow. And also used as one of the studies as an inspiration for I/M/D. He simply wants to learn students to be a kid again. And now he is starting something new: Knowmads. We’re going to do a lot more in the near future than having great conversations.
