Lots of sessions, discussions, talks and workshops about all the aspects of the identity of Stad&Esch led to a festive presentation of the formed identity, co-created with the entire staff of the school. It will be the heart of everything, and will manifest itself in culture, symbolism, communication and of course, education. It was a beautiful process with a high involvement and dedication of the staff to together create the best possible school for Meppel. Eh, the ~~Netherlands~~ world.

Deeply enjoying to work on this project with Roel, Ellen and Jaap of A2Q.

Mupps

Mupps will become a platform where artists can make their own iPhone app for an affordable price. Mupps is about publication, communication and aggregation. Every artist has its own section within Mupps where they can publish news and stories (text, audio, video) and talk with fans (Twitter integration is included!). And Mupps is your ideal band monitor as well by aggregating pictures and videos from around the net (Flickr and YouTube).

Within Mupps it’s easy to switch from artist to artist. That way Mupps will become a growing collection of cool bands and acts. Besides the band info MuppsTalk will supply you with the latest popnews from around the globe.

Mupps believes that mobile media will become the most important publication, communication and sales channel for artists and the like. One on one contact between band and fan.

So are their artists, dj’s, labels, clubs, festivals that want to join the Mupps train? Mail!

The Amazing Picnic Idea Machine 2008

The Idea Machine is a mash-up of ‘Ren je rot’, a pressure cooking brainstorm session, a circus, McGyver, The A-team, 24, Scrapheap challenge with a layer of show and enforced by technology.

Changing the world through collaborative creativity.

Context
Everybody is talking about web 2.0, cross media, innovation, collaborative creativity and other buzzwords. We were really curious what would happen if we moved this to a festival environment, like PICNIC. What could be the results of mapping knowledge of other disciplines on existing issues? What would happen if we put people together who never met before? Could we move from theories from brilliant minds, managers and people in suits to practice? To ‘doing’: making usable, meaningful, helpful and relevant solutions and ideas? Demonstrating the added value of creativity, ideas and design?

Everybody is looking for breakthrough ideas and innovative solutions. But in most cases those ideas are evolution, not revolutions. Evolution solves problems to survive: minor adjustments for changing situations. In order to get revolutions, the approach to get breakthrough ideas should be different. To think ‘out of the box’ and ‘out of the comfort zone, people must be out of their box and out of their comfort zone. This is facilitated by The Idea Machine. Hoping that the results will lead to revolutions.

When you wanted to create the future and had great ideas that needed to be developed further, you could submit your very best thoughts to the Amazing Idea Machine at Picnic’08. Here the most creative minds in the world, the best illustrators and the finest concept developers made sure it was nurtured and loved. To grow out to become the next big thing.

Mastermundo Identity

For Mastermundo I wanted to make a simple, recognizable identity, that can built up modularly and is also easy to replicate by anybody. And since Mastermundo’s heritage is in the Pool of Masterminds of the study Interactive/Media/Design at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK), I also tried to link it to the visual identity from the academy, which contains several crowns. Worked out quite well.

I/M/D then made versions with different kinds of stuff, pretty nice as well.
