AN AMSTERDAM PICNIC @ WCIT 2010

On Tuesday, 25 May international IT professionals and Amsterdam’s top creative talent got together for An Amsterdam PICNIC @ WCIT 2010. We would like to thank all of our partners and attendees for making this an enjoyable and successful evening! It was also a nice opportunity to test the new constellation of the PICNIC team before the main event in September. Was great!

During the evening, the attendees of WCIT got the opportunity to experience some of Amsterdam’s top creative talent in action at An Amsterdam PICNIC @ WCIT 2010.

WCIT stands for World Congress on Information Technology. It is one of the world’s most prestigious IT events, and Amsterdam is hosting this year’s edition at the RAI from 25 to 27 May 2010.

Together with the City of Amsterdam, PICNIC hosted a special networking evening for WCIT guests held at the Zuiveringhal West in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam on Tuesday, 25 May 2010. This event was a unique opportunity to showcase Amsterdam’s creativity to visiting business professionals. The evening featured interactive installations from local artists and the venue was transformed in the PICNIC style, complete with real grass, picnic tables and hanging tapestries from Thonik.

The evening opened with a welcome from Mr. Lodewijk Asscher, acting mayor of Amsterdam and deputy mayor Ms. Carolien Gehrels, Ms. Gehrels nicely summarized the connection between WCIT and the City of Amsterdam, saying:

“…The key to improving the world can be found in desire for innovation. And that’s why we were so keen to bring the 17th WCIT to Amsterdam. This event fits together with the Amsterdam tradition, with the creativity of our inhabitants, the initiatives launched by our leaders with our extensive history…”

This evening event was a glimpse of what people can expect at the next edition of PICNIC, taking place at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam from 22 to 24 September 2010.
